Intern
Our interns play a pivotal role in our model of second-order change by supporting our volunteers from the United States. We are seeking inspired and driven individuals to serve as allies for our schools willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week to further their projects.
Value
Due to the nature of our organization, interns are able to gain as much value from their experience as they put in. Some benefits include:

- Upward mobility. At least one member on our board is a former intern.
Roles and Responsibilities
Due to the fast-paced nature of our entrepreneurial environment, the roles and responsibilities of interns vary. The constant is that our interns are responsible for taking on a project and seeing it through to its full conclusion. In the past, our interns have taken on the following tasks to further our mission in our partner schools:
- Designing the content and delivery strategy of a census of families whose children have attended the Manye Foundation School in Kpone Barrier, Ghana;
- Drafting a communications strategy for WPE that addressed traditional and new/social media channels; and
- Designing evaluations that measure key performance targets at WPE’s partner schools.
Qualifications
We seek competitive applicants with strong backgrounds including:
- Minimum 1 year of college education;
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint;
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting educational equality;
- Ability to work independently; and
- A skill set beneficial to the organization.
Current Openings
Currently we are seeking interns to fulfill a variety of roles within the organization. We are actively looking for interns to manage the following projects within our organization:
- Social media utilization including twitter and facebook;
- Research into the public and private educational systems in Ghana; and
- Grant writing.
