Manye
Manye Foundation School
The Manye Foundation School, previously known as Manye Academy, was founded by a former printer turned farmer, Mr. Weber Daniel Kabutey Nartey around 2002. The school serves the children of migrant workers on the outskirts of Tema near Kpone Barrier, Sakey, and Community 25. Since 2005, the school has been registered with the Ghana Education Service and it has grown from about 30 pupils to around 250 today.
Our founders’ experiences volunteering at Manye inspired them to start World Partners in Education. With the advent of WPE, Manye became our first partner school in 2008. Through this trusting relationship, Manye has transformed from classes under the trees to children reading books from a school library and learning online in a computer lab.
World Partners in Education has been aiding Mr. Kabutey and the entire community in achieving their vision for Manye with the help of passionate, capable volunteers and targeted financial investments. During Manye’s partnership with World Partners in Education, the school has received the financial support necessary for upgrades to its facilities and significant human capital and financial resources needed to transform education at the school. Our volunteer program has sent volunteers to analyze school needs, assist with student education, and run curricular and extracurricular after-school programs.

In September 2010, World Partners in Education sent a pair of year-long educational consultants to Manye Academy. Under the guidance of our Monitoring and Evaluations Director, our consultants are collecting qualitative and quantitative data about Manye. They will form a School Improvement Team to work with the local stakeholders and choose a set of improvement areas and research-based interventions. They will also oversee the volunteer program going forward in order to achieve our goal of systemic and sustainable transformation.
